Meeting Minutes: 01-22-19
Attendance: Vicky, Chris A, Matt R, Ali, Chris D, David, Jodi S
- Treasures Report: all funds in one bank account at this time. Vicky will be taking care of tax return to maintain proper standing as tax-exempt organization. Vicky will report our current annual expenses, and total funds now held at 5 star bank.
- David W – David presented copies of old by-laws. Has spoken with David Miller. Fairly lax with by-laws per attorney’s advice. David Miller willing to assist with modification to make more contemporary non-political in nature at either no cost or low fee. David will be doing more research on the history of the origin of the NYC as there is some discrepancy to original funding and purpose.
- Mission Statement: Following in depth discussion, the Mission Statement will state as follows:
“The mission of the Naples Youth Corporation (NYC) is to manage a physical gathering place for education, recreation, and growth for youth that is safe, stimulating and inclusive.”
Vision – “Our vision is to promote and support services requested by youth in our Community”
- Property Management Team – Matt R, David W, Ali, Chris A: This group will look into if variance is needed for size of sign and where it can be located on property to avoid conflict. Cost of sign including installation: $475 (Not yet approved). Jeremy Years to perform survey to mark all 4 corners of property at no cost to the NYC (When it warms up a bit). Ali shared documents emailed by Jeremy with basic information on area. Matt requested digital copy of survey map. Ali to email to Jeremy to request. (Property management team will assess property for safety concerns and make suggestions/recommendations as needed.)
- Legal/Financial Sub-committee: David W, Vicky – Need to look at amount of insurance and if coverage is adequate for initial state of property, what does it cover, how much does it cost, etc. Following this determination, will look into conversation with school to work out mutually beneficial contract to follow the newly stated Mission and Vision.
- Property Development – Chris D, Jodi, Matt R. Will keep website as informational and not request ideas at this time for development. Will brainstorm within sub-committee potential uses for property following above steps completed. Discussed at length the importance of programming being a future endeavor and not the current focus of the NYC as property management. Programming will need to be looked at for long term cost and ability to be maintained outside of the NYC Board.
